Saiki Design led a consultant team to design the hardscape, water features, architectural elements and overall structure for Olbrich’s new Rose Garden. At two acres, the Rose Garden is Olbrich’s largest single garden and anchors the axial terminus symbolizing Olbrich’s link to Lake Monona. The Rose Tower is completely accessible, and affords an elevated overview of the entire facility. Olbrich’s planting design combines roses in context with trees, shrubs, perennials and grasses to create a horticultural display that has year-round interest.
The planning, design and construction of the Rose Garden is the latest in a series of new or re envisioned gardens that were conceived through the original master plan and periodic plan updates. Saiki Design’s involvement in the planning and implementation represents a relationship with Olbrich Botanical Gardens that spans over twenty years.
The Rose Garden at Olbrich Botanical Gardens received an Excellence in Design award from the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
