Saiki Design collaborated with Potter Lawson Architects to realize a mixed-use apartment complex featuring ground-level commercial spaces, upper-floor residences, and below-ground parking. This development occupies a prominent corner along the West Washington corridor within the Mifflin Street neighborhood. Our role extended to the essential entitlement process with the City of Madison, ensuring alignment with the Mifflandia Neighborhood Plan, providing extensive exhibits and design services to illustrate how the proposed development fit within the character and scale of the neighborhood plan.
The design scope encompassed comprehensive site planning, including both at-grade spaces and distinct rooftop terraces. Notably, the south-facing second floor roof terrace was envisioned to be an active, vibrant community hub complete with an overhead shade structure, grill station, fire tables, and raised planters to provide a sense of demarcation between public spaces and some of the adjacent, private balconies. Additionally, discrete rooftop terraces on the second and fifth floors offer exclusive outdoor retreats, framed by lush planters for privacy.
The project was honored with a ‘top project of the year’ award.
